The medium-wave radio transmitter masts at Bryn Moel, west of Wrexham.
The original transmitter was opened in 1946 to fill a gap in reception of the old BBC Welsh Home Service (later Radio 4 Wales).
When Radio Wales opened in 1978, this transmitter broadcast that, in addition to broadcasting the Radio Clwyd opt-out service which ran from 1981 to 1993.
It transmits on 657kHz with a power of 2kW.
