Yorke Street is named after the Yorke family, who owned Erddig Hall to the south of the town.

The last Squire of Erddig, Philip Yorke, was a remarkable eccentric, often to be seen on his penny-farthing bicycle even when he'd turned 70. He handed over Erddig to the National Trust in 1973.

Above is the street seen from its junction with Mount Street and Tuttle Street.

And this is how it looks from Temple Row.
