Penybryn once had a number of interesting small shops along its right-hand side, and along its left-hand side stood two pubs (the King's Head and the Carnarvon (sic) Castle) and a restaurant.

(The Carnarvon Castle was - for a mercifully short period at the beginning of the 1980s - re-branded as Piggly Wiggly's Fun Pub, with the inevitable consequences; hysterical laughter and a swift closure).

As you can see from this picture, there's not much left, and the area is awaiting yet another of those 'exciting' and 'innovative' developments for which the town is rightly notorious.
