Wrexham's public baths were previously in an old brick building next to the Border brewery on Tuttle Street, but in 1970 this new building at Bodhyfryd opened.

(Just in case you think that Wrexham Council's infamous incompetence is a recent phenomenon, here they put in a main pool which is just inches too short to be Olympic standard).

It has this unusual roof design (called 'hyperbolic paraboloid'...or is it 'hypermanic paranoid'?) which, being 'modern', 'dynamic' and 'exciting' has been an absolute sod to maintain down the years.

It's also reminiscent of that roof in The Italian Job; you know, the ones the Minis get up and down OK, but which the cops' old Fiat can't handle?

Above is the view of the Baths from Holt Street.

Here is a view of the Baths which no longer exists, as the tower of the police station was brought down by controlled explosion (intentionally, I hasten to add) on 1 November, 2020. This was the view from St George's Crescent prior to that.
