Eastgate (as you would expect from the name) marks the eastern side of the old City Walls of Chester.

This is Foregate Street, looking east from under the clock.

And, turning around, this is Eastgate Street, looking up towards The Cross.

In order to mark the Diamond Jubilee of Victoria, a commemorative clock was commissioned, and it has sat atop this bridge since 1897.

This is the clock up close (seen from the southern approach to the bridge on the City Walls). It was most recently renovated in 1998.
