This is the frontage of Chester's Library.

This terracotta and brick edifice is what remains of the former coachbuilders which stood here prior to the new library being built behind it in the early 1980s.

Here's the inscription over the entrance which describes the original use of the site (don't know who that ugly bugger at the bottom is, though!).

Worryingly, this attractive façade is under threat from large-scale developments in the offing for the whole Northgate Street area. Some people (especially councillors and officials) don't ever seem to appreciate what they've got, do they?
