A Year Without Pity
Oh look, this is getting ridiculous! There'll be no-one I admire left
at this rate...
Gene Pitney died at a hotel in Cardiff at the age of 65. He was in
the middle of a UK tour.
He was a remarkable songwriter and singer, with a career spanning
over forty years. His vocal style and choice of material were very
distinctive, he sang with range, power and emotion, and he toured
incessantly, especially over here.
He was one of the greats of pop music. Goodbye to the Rockville
Rocket.
