Wrth aros am y bws y prynhawn 'ma, mi aeth fan heibio. Arno oedd yr enw:
Arfon Rewinds
Mi aeth hwnnw â fi yn ôl dros chwarter canrif. Roeddwn i'n nabod Selwyn Rewinds (brawd Arfon) yn y Coleg 'slawer dydd. Boi ffeind oedd o hefyd, epil hen deulu Rewinds Rachub. Ond wiw i chi awgrymu fod a wnelo fo ddim byd â Rewinds Llanberis! Ymddengys na fu fawr o Gymraeg rhwng dwy ochr y teulu ers blynyddoedd. Fel y disgrifiodd Sel ei hun y sefyllfa;
"O, na! Byth ers i Wncwl Len ddeud be' ddudodd o wrth Dad yn angladd Anti Elsi! Anti Cynthia - gwraig Wncwl Len - oedd wrth wraidd y peth. Roedd hi'n disgwyl cael yr hen ddresel o barlwr Anti Elsi, dallt? Pan ffeindiodd hi fod Mam wedi'i fachu o am ein tŷ ni, wel, roedd hi'n 'fur and feathers', 'sti?"
Mi gollais i bob cysylltiad â Selwyn ar ôl iddo raddio; ond dwi wedi cael ar ddeall fod ganddo fo fusnes symud tua Maesgeirchen 'cw.
Mae'n od sut mae pethau'n dod yn ôl i chi, on'd ydy?

Wind Up
Waiting for the bus this afternoon, a van went past. On the side was the name:
Arfon Rewinds
That took me back over a quarter of a century. I knew Selwyn Rewinds (Arfon's brother) in College many years ago. A good lad he was too, scion of the old Rewinds family from Rachub. But woe betide anyone who suggested that they had anything to do with the Llanberis Rewinds! It seems there had been few words exchanged between the two sides of the family for some little time. As Sel himself described the situation:
"Oh, no! Not since Uncle Len said what he said to Dad at Auntie Elsie's funeral!. Auntie Cynthia - Uncle Len's wife - was behind it. She'd been expecting to get the old dresser from Auntie Elsie's parlour, understand? When she found out that Mam had grabbed it for our house, well it was 'fur and feathers', see?"
I lost all contact with Selwyn after he graduated; but a little bird told me that he now has a removals business over in Maesgeirchen.
Odd how things come back to you, isn't it?
