Some Things Never Change, Do They?
It's been Budget Week, of course, and as a necessary diversion from the sight of a man drowning while deliberately puncturing his own water-wings ("George? Don't do that!"), I've been leafing through my first-edition copies of the collections of misprints and odd signs compiled by Denys Parsons and published by Macmillan in the 1950s.
The following notice - seen at a Conservative Association Garden Fête - seems still to be especially apt:
