Snog - "Prole Song" (1997)

'S OK. Still here.

It's just that - having seen off the tenth anniversary flag-waving and being in my customary mid-June fortnight away from the pickle factory - I've been trying to spend as much time as possible bringing the garden up to scratch and finally getting rid of the accumulated junk decanted from the late, unlamented shed.

(In this I was greatly assisted by the two travelling boys who knocked on my door last week and were happy enough to relieve me of the bulkier - and, more to the point from their side of things, metallic - items, thus saving me from having to pay the Council at least £27 for the privilege of having them cart it away).

I'm more or less straight with it now, and have only some cleaning work in the house to do (the weather this weekend precluding any outside activities in any case) before resigning myself to the vista of about ten weeks solid work without any leave as I help to cover for colleagues who have the excuse of sprogs to take large parts of the summer off.

To celebrate this happy prospect, I append a song which I first heard on the now-defunct Syncromesh Radio website about ten years ago by the Australian band Snog; a track taken from their 1997 album Buy Me...I'll Change Your Life. I'm sure that I'll find myself singing it sotto voce whilst travelling on the 13 on Monday morning.
