A Statement
OK, this is now getting a little...odd.
And, of course, this has been the trigger for all sorts of comment - even on the websites of allegedly 'liberal' news outlets - containing varieties of ninth-grade snark from people who think that they're H.L. Mencken when they're not even Glenn Beck. Anything to distract from the reality of the double-distilled vindictiveness of the American régime and what it says about its cheerleaders.
But, if the political prisoner formerly known as Bradley Manning now wishes to be referred to as Chelsea Manning, then she has my full and unequivocal support.
I hope, however, that she would understand that this - at least in the short term - presents me with a few practical difficulties, and so I will continue to refer to her by her 'legal' name as well as her chosen one, at least for the time being.
By the way, if you're resident in the Land Of The Freak, might I suggest you sign the petition on the White House web site calling on Obama to pardon Bradley/Chelsea Manning.
