I sometimes think that there is a gleeful prankster spirit - some funny fairy or djolly djinn, if you like - who causes organisations to appoint people to positions to which they are deeply suited by dint of their names (if for no other reason).

It's been at it again, it seems, in that conclave of footlers which constitutes the State Church of England:
