The Wrong Song
Directed by the Twitter feed of the ever-estimable Philip Challinor to this piece in the New Statesman criticising the latest desperate attempt by one of Blairism's gilded goons to make himself seem relevant, I notice that the author (who hasn't - despite six months as an MP - quite had the radicalism burned out of her yet) refers to Pulp's (that is to say, lyrically speaking, Jarvis Cocker's) classic song Common People.
But I think there's a Cocker song which far more cogently describes where we are today...and where we are likely to be for a long time to come, alas:
