Wrexham was once a notable brewing town.

Unfortunately, they all closed down one by one.

Above was the site of the Island Green brewery on the south-west corner of the town centre. After it closed, parts of the site were used by the Border brewery, whilst other parts fell into near ruin.

Eventually - and long after Border had been bought by Marston's and closed down - the area was renovated by dumping a set of large concrete buildings on it - complete with the green roofs visible in this picture (and, I'm afraid, for miles around).

This view of one corner of it, taken from Watery Road, also shows the Parish Church tower and the cranes of the Eagles Meadow development which was then under construction.

The old Island Green Brewery buildings were also part of the revamp, being turned into rather attractive-looking residential properties. The residents should certainly have no problems with parking.
