The Delgados - "Pull The Wires From The Wall" (1998)

This song just popped into my head for some reason.

It reminds me of listening to the legendary John Peel, when you never knew what you were going to hear next; some heavy jungle, a Rasta lament, a Robert Johnson blues number, or the outpourings of angst from a group of early-twenty-somethings with guitars and relationship issues.

This track appeared twice in Peel's famous Festive Fifty charts; firstly at number 27 in 1997 as a session track, then again in 1998 in the version which you are about to hear (if you click on the right place, of course), which came from The Delgados' Peloton album of that year. On that latter occasion, not only did it reach number 1, it got there by garnering twice as many votes as any other.

Not sure about the video itself, mind; I suppose it's 'symbolic' or 'significant' in some way that only the director would understand. Nice car, though:
