Clannad - "I See Red" (1983)
Given that, if you're Irish - and who isn't? - today's Yer Man's Day, and given that the article about Ireland I had intended writing is, at least for the time being, with O'Leary in the grave, I thought that I'd better post this instead, if only to protect me from snakes.
Taken from Clannad's 1983 LP Magical Ring, it marks a rare occasion when they recorded something which was neither one of their own songs nor an arrangement of a traditional piece.
It was written by Jim Rafferty (brother of Gerry) and was originally recorded by Frida (you remember, her out of ABBA?), and brother Gerry himself committed a version to whatever material CDs are made out of some years later.
But this was the first version I ever heard, and so has its special place in me Ould (conveniently borrowed for the day) Oirish Soul:
