And now, time for another in our occasional cut-out-and-forget-where-you-put-it series:
Labour Party, What Fucking Use Are You?
Following on from previously-noted examples of betrayal such as:
we have also had this year:
- The primary response from the Labour front bench to Priti Patel's appalling plan to deport refugees to prison camps in a central African dictatorship being not to state in any way how utterly unacceptably inhuman and inhumane even the possibility of such a policy is for a society which wishes to regard itself as 'civilised', but to complain about the cost,
- Sir Keith complaining that imprisoning non-violent protestors for ever-longer periods of time was wrong on the grounds that that wasn't long enough,
- The same walking vacuum stating that he supported the right of workers to strike, but refusing to support those same workers when they actually did take action to defend themselves,
- Telling the people of Scotland - who never elected him, who haven't elected his party for a decade and a half and who live in a different polity anyway - that even if every single one of them voted for another referendum on independence, he still wouldn't permit it,
- His equally oxygen-denuded regional under-manager Drakeford still yabbing on about the 'broad shoulders' of the 'union' and about how the colonial system is an 'insurance policy' rather than what it is, namely a protection racket without the protection,
- Starmer's remarks from a few weeks ago in which he said - when stripped down to the bare metal - that our Health Service employs too many darkies,
- And on that subject, this week's exudations from Wes Streeting - the latest in a long, long line of former head honchos of the National Union of Students to make a career out of hurling themselves rightwards - that private hospitals should be paid to treat patients who can't get what they need on the NHS (largely because of staff shortages caused by lousy pay and conditions, about which Streeting almost certainly believes the staff should not be allowed to strike). In this, Streeting shows that there is nothing new in the Sun given that it is similar to a policy floated (that's 'floated' as in 'silent, smelly one') some twenty years ago by one of Blair's drones (Alan Milburn in this instance) who, moreover, suggested sending the halt and the lame off to other countries to get their treatment (this led to my parody of an old trad. song here)
(Oh, and the little shit has now gone gunning for the British Medical Association, although he hasn't used the word 'wreckers' yet; give him time...)
Add to this the pogroms within the party against such undesirable elements as socialists, human rights activists and the less compliant sort of Jew, and the increasingly desperate fluffing of millionaires to make up for the loss of income from such ethical cleansing, and I think it is perfectly acceptable to send the following message to Her His Majesty's Oh-So-Loyal 'Opposition':
Listen up, you bunch of craven boodlers! You are supposed to oppose the Tories, not augment them. What do you think we have Farage and the Liberal Democrats for? You most certainly should not be trying to outflank the vermin from the right! I don't care if you think you're doing this to win back the 'Red Wall', which in any case is another fake category created by hacks, pollsters, focus groupies and other purveyors of the vacuous, much along the lines of 'Essex Man', 'Worcester Woman', 'Gillingham Gerbil' and other such void concepts. What does that say about your attitude to the people living in those areas? You know, the ones who want to see your party offer some hope for better instead of re-runs of the Which Blair Project? Do you really think that they are so easily steered, so readily duped? If so - and at a time when the majority of the population wants more radical change in the right direction than you seem willing or capable of providing, then get the fuck out of our lives and make way for people who will, like all those people you've deliberately defenestrated or alienated from your party by your managerialist cowardice!
